The new 65,000 square-foot Glen T. MacLeod Cape Ann YMCA is one piece of the Windover-led joint venture redevelopment of an 11-acre property that once held the Fuller School in Gloucester, MA. With new steel and light gauge metal frame construction, this state-of-the-art facility is being built with an emphasis on sustainable initiatives such as solar panels, electric car chargers, cogeneration power systems, and polished concrete floorings that eliminate the need for floor coverings and adhesives. Features include an eight-lane pool, therapy areas, locker rooms, wood floor gymnasium with two full-size courts, 9,000 square feet of fitness space, three workout studios, physical therapy studio, day care space, classrooms, offices, and a café.
As a cost-effective and time savings solution, Windover has developed the 3D model and supporting programming in order to prefabricate all 500 cold-rolled steel roof truss assemblies offsite. The fabrication equipment utilized the precise radius dimensions from BIM to accurately construct the intended design of the entry foyer roofline.
