Originally built in 1840 and relocated from Connecticut in 1960, Hamilton Chapel is a historic and iconic building that sits in the middle of the lively Belmont Hill School campus. The renovation included the stabilization of the original post and beam building, significant MEP upgrades, and complex utility work.

Concurrent with the renovation, the project also included construction of a 7,000 square-foot addition providing program space needed to accommodate all-school assemblies for 450 students and 75 faculty members. This included a retractable stage facility with theater lighting and extensive A/V. The project, which sits on an extremely tight site abutted by athletic fields and academic buildings, utilizes a mix of construction materials from timber to concrete masonry to steel trusses.

The utilization of drone mapping and laser scanning were instrumental in coordinating new duct work and mechanical piping throughout the building as well as validating the fit and accuracy of the proposed design drawings against the existing conditions.
